Astley Community High School promotes and encourages Active Travel to staff and students and encourages them to walk, cycle or use public transport whenever it is safe and practicable to do so.

By doing this we hope that the roads surrounded by the school will become less congested and that pupils' awareness of road safety, particularly during opening and closing will be improved.

In order to help staff and pupils make informed choices about the range of travel options to the school, a range of tools and information is shown below.

Go Smarter

The Go Smarter Journey Planner allows you to plan your journey to the school either by foot, bicycle or public transport and is very easy to use.

Bus

The X7, X4 and 57 public service buses stop nearby the school entrance. These services are operated by Arriva.

There is also the 295 free bus service for eligible pupils operated by Priory Coaches which runs through Old Hartley and Seaton Sluice. Please contact Northumberland County Council to check eligibility for free home to school transport.

Cycling

Astley Community High School has a range of freely available cycle and scooter parking for visitors and staff, which is covered to ensure that your bicycle or scooter will not get wet, particularly during winter.
