On Thursday 14 February our amazing Year 11 girls rugby team became the first ever side in our federation history to win a clean sweep of North East Champions trophies.

The team played together in the Champion Schools for Whytrig in Y7 and Y8 and Astley in Y9, Y10 and now in Y11.

Playing in the second and final festival in the North East and in a shorter format, due to exams, they beat rivals Whitburn 16-4, following this with a 20-0 win against a strong and athletic Durham Johnson side.  The girls will now progress to the National Festival for a 5th consecutive year on Tuesday 19 March in Warrington.
