Well done to our Y10 girls who followed in the Y11 girls footsteps to become North East, Champion Schools rugby league winners on 5 March at home to Whitburn. A very high scoring first half resulted in Astley leading 16-12 at half time. The second half became very physical with Astley adding a further 8 points to win 24-12.
Mr Carbutt said: "A lot of credit must go to the girls for turning in such resolute second half and not allowing Whitburn to score. Just before half time our body language was not good and Whitburn were getting back into the game. I am really pleased with the whole team for stepping up and continue the long line of success for our girls in these tournaments. They now have the opportunity to have another go at nationals in May.
