ACHS Learning and Support Assistant, Mrs Christie is raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support by making face masks for staff.
Mrs Christie is a keen seamstress and helps Mrs Tarpey create costumes for the school shows. Putting her sewing skills to good use, she made face masks for family during lockdown and recently decided to raise funds for charity by making face masks for staff. Macmillan Cancer Support is the chosen charity as it has not been possible to hold the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning this year.
Fundraising and painting are also hobbies that Mrs Christie enjoys in her spare time. She has raised funds for the Bubble Foundation, Sepsis UK and raised £10,000 for Wallsend Boys Club through various activities including the sale of her acrylic paintings, auctioning donations and holding an ‘I’m a Celebrity’ night.
Since Mrs Christie started making the face masks for staff just over two weeks ago, she has raised approximately £130 and the final amount will be match funded by PWC.
Christmas themed face masks are coming soon!
