On 23 September staff at Whytrig Middle School were delighted to take Year 8 out on their annual Public Sculpture Art Trip.
Mrs Lawton was successful in applying for a grant for the transport, thanks to being pointed in the right direction by one of our own parents - this meant that we could take all of our Year 8 pupils out for the day.
Pupils got to see many of the North East’s public art sculptures including Northumberlandia, the statue of Emily Wilding Davison by Ray Lonsdale at Carlisle Park in Morpeth, the Couple by Sean Henry at Newbiggin By The Sea and The Angel Of The North by Antony Gormley in Gateshead.
Pupils were very well behaved and enjoyed the opportunity of experiencing the art, which we will bring back into lessons in school.
