On Friday 19 November, ACHS sixth form students were delighted to be the first to welcome staff from the new Britishvolt Gigaplant currently under construction in Cambois. The Britishvolt ambition is to create some of the planet’s most responsibly manufactured battery cells, primarily to power electric vehicles.

Leon Denis and Jochen Schmerbitz, who head up procurement at Britishvolt, delivered an assembly to Year 12 and 13 students on the values that underpin the foundation and future direction of Britishvolt. A workshop followed the assembly covering the circles of Control, Influence and Concern in people's lives and gave guidance on how to prioritise them.

Britishvolt’s mission is to accelerate the electrification of society. They will deliver sustainable, low-carbon batteries on the roadmap to decarbonisation. The new Gigaplant located in Cambois will create up to 3,000 jobs in the North East of England and even more in the supply chain.

The Seaton Valley Federation hope to build strong links with Britishvolt and look forward to welcoming them back soon.
