Year 9 are currently experiencing a three week teaching project with the theme of Venice. All of the Year 9 subjects will link into the theme of Venice with the intention that students can make links between their learning and also see how different skills such as evaluation, analysis and interpretation are used across all their subjects.

Venice is culturally diverse and has a long and significant history as well as recently being in the news, so it is a topic which holds some really valuable learning opportunities for our students.

Students enjoyed analysing and creating their own ideas for Venetian masks in Art on Friday as part of their Venice themed project work. There was even a genuine Venetian mask (brought in by a student) to inspire their designs.

Year 9 students had the opportunity to sample some Venetian style dishes in Food Technology last week as part of their Venice themed project work. The pasta with squid ink brought some mixed reviews from the students...but lots were brave enough to try it!

In English Literature lessons students were making collages showing the history and development of Venice over the past 500 years to tie in with their study of The Merchant of Venice.

Some of the fantastic leaflets that Year 9 students have been creating in their English lessons ready for their study of The Merchant of Venice and as part of their Venice themed project.
