Year 5 at Seaton Sluice Middle School have been fortunate to have John Challis work with them again. John is a poet and is working with a consultant to develop some creative writing for an Arts strategy. This is in the hope that the children can produce some poetry and art that could be displayed in the new stations across the new Northumberland Line.
John inspired the children with examples of poetry, railway art pieces using their own hopes and dreams to consider how to use language to portray a journey. The children wrote their own poetry; including Haikus and a collaborative piece at the end. It was such fun and very exciting to imagine that their work could actually appear at their new local station!
