Fiction recommendation -
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James, inspired by a Physics calculation she was assigned at university. Lauren is a passionate advocate of STEM further education, and all of her books feature female scientists in prominent roles. In the novel, the daughter of two astronauts, Romy Silvers is no stranger to life in space. But she never knew how isolating the universe could be until her parents’ tragic deaths left her alone on the Infinity, a spaceship speeding away from Earth.

Non-fiction recommendation -
Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers who Changed the World by Rachel Ignotofsky. The book highlights the contributions of fifty notable women to the STEM fields of science technology, engineering and mathematics. It explores well-known figures such as the physicist and chemist Marie Curie, as well as lesser-known pioneers such as Katherine Johnson, an African American Mathematician.
