Last week a team of 6 pupils from Year 5 to Year 7 visited The Lakeside Centre in Killingworth to take part in a Boccia tournament. Boccia is a sport, similar to bowls, where players seated on a court propel balls to get as close as possible to a white target ball, the "jack," using their hands, feet, or a ramp. Our team went up against 25 other teams and sailed through the group stages unbeaten. The quarter finals and semi-finals were tense; but, the pupils handled it with ease and, despite a very tense game in the final, came out on top as gold winners!
