In Year 5, we have been doing activities surrounding the focus of ‘Mattering and Belonging’.  The Metaphor Check-In activity where the children used metaphors to describe their feelings helped them to feel noticed and listened to in a non-judgemental space.  Grace H (5E) shared, ‘I am the sunshine because I’m happy!’ and Max Mc (5E) explained, ‘I am a monster-truck when I’m feeling angry!’  Following this activity, pupils took part in the Keep a Straight Face activity which promoted positive peer relationships whilst also allowing the children to enjoy shared laughter and connection.  In pairs, one pupil had to pull faces but the other had to try to keep a straight face - it was hilarious!
