Zoe and Vicky from Newcastle University Outreach Team came to speak with ACHS Sixth Form this morning about the benefits of studying at university. They explained the advantages of studying for a degree and how this enhances one’s employability prospects. We were also shown videos of student life including accommodation, nightlife, club activities and sporting facilities. They also briefly talked about the application process and student finance and showed students the particular benefits of studying in Newcastle city centre.

Year 13 students were then given a tutorial on the UCAS application process and how to write an effective personal statement. They were shown how to break down each section of the statement and were provided with examples of other successful students’ applications. Student’s were also shown how to apply for Newcastle University’s PARTNERS programme which gives students a contextual offer of up to three grades lower than the typical offer from the University.
