In Year 5 Science, the children are looking at Materials and their Properties. The children planned and carried out an experiment to find out the hardness of various materials. Using careful reasoning, they made predictions before carrying out a scratch test. Following this, they ranked the materials on their hardness.

In Year 6 Science we are studying Living Things and their Habitats. The children have been classifying living things into various categories but we discussed that living things are all related to each other and DNA proves this. Consequently, we decided to see if we could extract some DNA from some fruit. The children mushed up some strawberries and kiwi fruits then by mixing with various other substances, they extracted strands of DNA. It was very exciting!
