Well done to Ethan D for playing his part in the Northumberland RFU fantastic 24-5 victory over Cumbria at Penrith RFC on Sunday 5 December 2021. This was Ethan’s first match for Northumberland and he had a good game playing full time as outside centre.
Northumberland RFU took two squads to Penrith on 5 December to play Durham and Cumbria as part of their ongoing Development Player Programme, which Ethan was selected to be part of in 2020. The programme aims to improve players and to provide opportunities to play rugby at county level.
Ethan has played rugby for six years, he plays rugby league for Whitley Bay Barbarians and joined Blyth RFC playing rugby union three years ago. He trains four times a week, twice with his rugby league team and twice with rugby union. Ethan said: “Rugby union is my favourite, it’s a quicker game,” and advised anyone who is interested in playing rugby, “have a go at a local club.”
