It was wonderful to welcome some new chicks to hatch again this year. Lessons were interrupted as a live feed was shared across the school to ensure that we could witness the magical moment when a chick hatched. We managed to hatch ten out of ten this year with words of encouragement from all our very excited pupils! Learning was enthralling as the children could observe the process first hand in their Life Cycles topic in Science. After a short stay in the incubator, pupils could then set up the brooder box and move the fluffy chicks over to their new home. The children were very eager to take on responsibilities to clean, feed and take care of the chicks. It is always a very special time so of course, we welcome pupils from all year groups to come to handle and enjoy the chicks. Once the chicks were a little older, Year 5 science lessons included worm charming to serve the chicks a treat for lunch! It was such an exciting and enjoyable experience for all pupils.
