Exciting news since our July Eco Club update! We passed our Silver Eco Award and successfully bid for funding to pay for our Green Flag assessment. So it’s full steam ahead to apply for the full Green Flag Award in February.

We are meeting with the ACHS form reps over the next few weeks to start putting plans in place. One of our first projects will be students collecting crisp packets that we can send to the Crisp Packet Project to turn into Bivvy sleeping bags for homeless people.

We are also hoping to hold a competition with eco prizes and run oracy activities to discuss important environmental topics. Hopefully in the next few months the students will spot eco starter activities in some lessons.

Do your bit! If you have foil lined crisp packets, please send them in to school with your child so that we can add them to our collection. All crisp packets will be self-isolating for 72 hours before being processed!

Also, don’t forget to sign up to our Astley Community High School Easy Fundraising page so that your Christmas shopping can raise money for eco club. If you use the Easy Fundraising website or app to access sites like Amazon then the school eco-club gets a small donation each time you buy something. It costs you nothing and is an easy way for you to help.
