About Northumberland Line

As you may be aware from announcements in the local press, The Northumberland Line is the project name for the reintroduction of rail passenger services between Ashington and Northumberland Park, which has been an aspiration of Northumberland County Council for many years. The line will include six new rail stations at Ashington, Blyth Bebside, Bedlington, Newsham, Seaton Delaval and Northumberland Park, with journeys between Newcastle and Ashington taking around 30 minutes.

The Competition

As the future users of the Northumberland Line the Local Authority would like to engage young people in the project and will be creating opportunities in 2021 to work with schools on rail safety, construction, planning and design as the scheme progresses. To mark the start of the public consultation, children who attend schools in South East Northumberland and who are near to the new station locations are being encouraged to enter a competition. Due to covid restrictions this can be completed in their own time at home!
